WHO IS IT?
Bryan and Jen Danger from Portland Oregon USA
WHAT IS THEIR SIDE HUSTLE?
One of their businesses they design the interiors of vans to make them livable and the other business is focused on designing small living spaces, such as garages, to get the most out of the space.
WHY SHOULD I LISTEN?
You’ll find out how, after years of talking about it, they packed up everything into an old 1967 Volkswagen Van and drove from the Pacific Northwest all they down to the tip of Central America living in a van and how this changed their life forever. Upon returning from this trip and settling back in Portland, they decided to keep renting their house out and just turn their detached garage into a small living space. After doing this, the story started to organically pick up interest from passersby and eventually media. It seemed that they had unintentionally came into a niche that needed serving. Bryan and Jen took advantage of this opportunity and created a service based business called Zenbox Design. In this business they design small, functional living spaces for others. Along the same lines, many people started to inquire about the van they took on their 18 month road trip because Bryan had taken the time to create a beautiful and functional interior space. This spawned their next venture, Zenvanz.
This was a personally interesting episode because numerous times I have thought about how interesting of an experience it would be living in a van and driving where ever you want to go.
